Integrated Technology Specialists

The Intelligent Home

Smart home automation takes care of your everyday tasks at home with ease. Our smart home automation system takes care of your lighting, blinds, curtains and awnings, temperature control, alternative energy, access control & security, sound & video and remote home management.

We specialise in the integration of ultra-simple smart homes. We have a range of smart home automation options to suit any budget. From basic single room control, to multi-zone, complete home control. Even the most sophisticated control systems can leave its users feeling frustrated. At SIAV, we place the emphasis on design.

Our systems are simple to use and can be operated by any member of the family.

Home Energy — Solar PV & Backup

We design solar PV and battery backup around how a home actually consumes power, not around a generic package. That begins with a load profile, an assessment of essential circuits, and a clear conversation about what should stay on during an outage and for how long.

From there we specify inverter and battery capacity, panel layout and the essential-loads distribution board, and manage the installation through to the required compliance documentation. Systems are monitored and can be surfaced within the wider automation platform, so generation, consumption and battery state are visible at a glance.

Distributed Audio & Video

We distribute audio throughout the home from a central rack, so any room can play independently or follow the same source, with in-ceiling, in-wall or architectural speakers selected to disappear into the interior.

Alongside this we design dedicated listening rooms and home cinemas, covering seating geometry, acoustic treatment, screen or projection choice and final calibration.

Televisions can be concealed and revealed by custom lifts and motorised mechanisms, with screen, source, lighting and blinds moving together on a single command. All of it is controlled from one interface rather than a drawer of remotes.

Security Integration

Surveillance and alarm systems work better when they stop being separate products.

We specify and install CCTV and integrate it with the alarm, perimeter detection and access control, then bring all of it into the same interface the client already uses for lighting and audio.

Camera views can be called up on a television, tablet or phone from anywhere, and alarm events can drive the rest of the house — perimeter lighting to full, interior scenes on, gates and doors reporting status.

Cabling, power and network provisions are designed in from the start, so coverage is never compromised by infrastructure.

Property Future-Proofing

The most expensive automated home decisions are the ones made too late. We produce a conceptual design early in the build or renovation, mapping where technology will live now and what the property should be able to accept in five or ten years' time.

From that we issue structured cabling layouts, containment and conduit routes, comms-room provisions and power requirements, coordinated with your architect, electrician and builder. The result is a home wired to receive future systems without opening walls again — a modest upfront cost that protects both the finishes and the budget later.

Home Networking & WiFi

Every system in a modern home depends on the network, so we treat it as core infrastructure rather than an accessory.

We design the incoming service and any failover, a central switching and rack position, and cabled runs to every access point, television, camera and control device. Wi-Fi is planned around the building's construction and layout, with access points positioned for genuine coverage rather than raw signal strength, and traffic separated so guest and IoT devices stay clear of private data.

The network is remotely supportable, so most issues are resolved without a site visit.

Lighting Control

Lighting is the layer of automation a client feels every day. We design circuits and dimming for the fittings actually specified — including trailing-edge, low-voltage and architectural details that misbehave on standard dimmers — then programme scenes so a single keypad or app replaces banks of switches.

We work closely with the leading lighting suppliers in and around South Africa, and can be involved at fitting-selection stage so that the aesthetic and the control layer agree.

For completed homes, a retro-fit path delivers the same scene control wirelessly, without lifting floors or chasing walls.
